DE GEA GETTING READY FOR ‘UNBELIEVABLE’ MILESTONE
If David De Gea plays against Newcastle United on Sunday, it will be a significant milestone for him because it will be his 500th game for Manchester United.
When the Spaniard takes the field at Old Trafford, he will become just the 11th player in our history to reach the milestone. He joined the Reds from Atletico Madrid back in June 2011.
De Gea joins Ryan Giggs, Sir Bobby Charlton, Paul Scholes, Bill Foulkes, Gary Neville, Wayne Rooney, Alex Stepney, Tony Dunne, Denis Irwin, and Joe Spence in accomplishing the milestone; Stepney is the only goalkeeper in our all-time appearances list who is ahead of the 31-year-old.

In addition to multiple individual honors, including the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year title, which he has shared a record four times, David has won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, and Europa League during his time in Manchester.
On Sunday, he will receive recognition for his efforts at the Theatre of Dreams, where he will be given an engraved plate before the game. Additionally, for the game against the Magpies, our number one player will wear a set of specially made gloves made by adidas.
De Gea recently gave us an extensive interview regarding his professional milestone, and it will be distributed across all of our official media in the coming days.
David said, “I believe it to be something crazy.
“Obviously, it’s quite significant for me to have played 500 games for this club, but I think I’ll appreciate it more when I finish playing football, when I retire, and can then look back and say, ‘OK, I played more than 500 games for a huge club like United.
To be honest, I’m incredibly proud and it’s great.
“It’s a dream to be here and have already played as much as I have; just to be a member of this club is huge, and it’s so difficult to get here. It’s incredible.
David, congratulations on a job well done. On Sunday, we’re looking forward to celebrating it with you.
