For attempted rape and indecent assault, an Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti Division, sentenced Seun Oladipupo,a 40 year old man, to 16 years in jail.
The charge reads, “The defendant did attempt to rape an 18-year-old female on February 19, 2021 at Igede Ekiti, in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area. Sections 359 and 360 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, were violated by the offenses.
In her statement, the victim stated, “The defendant came to our house at 11pm without my permission, even though he had previously asked me out. He forced himself onto me when he entered our room, covering my lips with his clothes.

I know him as Samora, but at the Igede Police Station, when he was detained after I reported the event, I learned his real name is Oluwaseun Oladipupo.
Folasade Alli, the prosecutor, called two witnesses, presented the defendant’s and victim’s statements as exhibits, as well as a medical report, and called two witnesses.

The accusation of rape was denied by the defendant, who addressed through his legal representative Helen Akinboni.

The victim is my girlfriend, and when her father entered the room, we were just making love and I fled out of fear.  Her father arrived to arrest me the following day.
According to Justice Adekunle Adeleye’s ruling, the prosecution had established beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant had sexually assaulted the 18-year-old woman.
The defendant is found guilty as charged on charges one and two in violation of sections 359 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Cap. C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, the judge declared.

“The defendant is hereby sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for count two and fourteen years’ imprisonment for count one.”
