FRSC:  Five killed in Anambra crash

On Sunday night, a girl and four adults were killed in a road accident involving a jeep and a truck on the Enugu-Agidi by Awka-Enugu Expressway in Anambra.

Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Anambra State commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Awka.

According to Irelewuyi, the accident was caused by speeding and a loss of control.

 

“An unidentified driver of a black Lexus with the registration number KJA182HS and an unidentified driver of a red truck with no registration number were involved in the fatal crash.”

“According to eyewitnesses, the truck driver was speeding when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the Lexus SUV.”

“The crash involved five people in total: three male adults, one female adult, and one female child.” “Five of them were murdered.” The victims were taken to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Amaku, Awka, where they were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty, and their corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue,” he said.

While expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, the Sector Commander warned motorists, particularly truck drivers, to avoid speeding and to adhere to the posted speed limit.

“Kill the speed before it kills you, and drive to reach your destination alive.” “Let’s keep our roads safe from accidents,” he said.
