Gov. Akeredolu relocates Orange 94.5FM Station to OSRC

Orange 94.5FM, owned by the Ondo State Government, will leave its current location on Irese Road in order to move to the media group’s headquarters in Orita Obele, Akure.

This is in response to the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, ordering the physical and administrative consolidation of all state-owned broadcasting institutions at the Orita Obele, Ijare Road, Akure, headquarters of the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, OSRC.

OSRC TV, SUNSHINE 96.5FM ALALAYE, and ORANGE 94.5 FM are the three media outlets.

This choice is a result of the government’s plans for coping with the economic realities that the country and the state are currently confronting. Additionally, it is consistent with the Akeredolu administration’s policy goal of operating a smart, effective, and economical governance system in accordance with international best practices.

The policy’s goal is to set up and enforce a system of shared facilities, optimal human resource use, and financially prudent operational logistics for the three media organizations.

The benefits include :

a) Massive reduction of the costs of purchase of the Automotive Gasoline Oil (Diesel) for power generation.

b) Eradication of costs of maintenance of 3 power generators currently used for running Orange 94.5 FM (located about 5km away from its headquarters complex).

c) Eradication of expenditures on maintenance of engineering facilities like the 1,000 feet broadcast mast, signal antennae, Fibre optical cable installations and studio equipment.

d) Crash in the costs on vehicles maintenance and transport

e) Massive reduction of costs of daily news gathering, programme productions operations and marketing activities.

f) Effective operational supervision, smart human resources administration and management and overall reduction in costs of building and environment maintenance respectively.

The aforementioned items, along with others, will no longer be copied at Orange FM as is the case at the moment.

When fully operational, it is anticipated that the government will spend no less than 80% less overall on Orange 94.5FM, freeing up additional funds to address other pressing needs in the state.

Groundwork and basic implementation of the move have already started, and it is anticipated to be finished by September 10th, 2022.

The ultimate aim of this effort is to raise the bar for our quality service and maintain Orange 94.5FM’s position as the leading urban radio station with the most content listeners.

The general public, in particular our esteemed listeners, are hereby requested to kindly bear with us through whatever little inconveniences this exercise may cause to their enjoyment of listening.
