Sola Sobowale, a well-known veteran actress, has discussed how filmmaker Kemi Adetiba ‘pulled her out’ into the spotlight in the film industry. Sobowale discussed her lead part as Eniola Salami in Adetiba’s King of Boys during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo that was published on Saturday.

Speaking about her relationship with the director, Sobowale said that Adetiba is more familiar with her than she is. “Kemi Adetiba carries an air of mystery. Who is Sola Sobowale? Kemi Adetiba will explain. Even myself I don’t know. According to Sobowale, Kemi is more familiar with me than I am.

I was brought out, Kemi Adetiba said. Wherever I am, I will speak it. Even if it repeats itself, that’s fine with me. I’ll reiterate it. To sing it is me. I’ll yell it out. I was brought out by her. The fact that Sobowale had to see King of Boys despite never having watched herself in a movie was also mentioned.

Although I don’t usually monitor myself, I have to during King of Boys, the veteran continued.

Sobowale began working in Nollywood in 1992, but it wasn’t until her role as “Toyin Tomato” in Wale Adenuga’s Super Story that she shot to fame.

The actress gained renewed fame with the 2016 film Kemi Adetiba’s Wedding Party, though. But Adetiba’s King of Boys, which debuted in 2018, propelled the actress to fame thanks to her assertive demeanor and alpha female role.

The actress said, “You know you can do something but that opportunity never arrived,” in reference to her part in the film.
