According to Amaju Pinnick, the president of the Nigerian Football Federation, Nigeria is collaborating with the Benin Republic to submit a bid to host the competition.

According to Pinnick, we are putting up a bid to co-host the event with the Benin Republic.

“The Minister of Sports has granted the bid his blessing.

Given the various benefits of hosting such events, it is about time Nigeria sponsored an international competition.

“There are many nations vying for the competition, but we are certain that CAF will approve our bid.

“We are collaborating with the ministry of sports to make sure Nigeria hosts successfully.”

Nigeria has twice hosted the AFCON, first in 1980 and once in 2000 as a joint host with Ghana.

But if the CAF approves the bid, this will be the first time Benin Republic has hosted.

The country that will host AFCON 2025 in place of Guinea has not yet been announced by CAF.
