Obasanjo Prostrates to Honour New Olowu of Owu

At his home in Abeokuta, Ogun state, on August 1st, former President Olusegun Obasanjo welcomed Saka Matemilola Adelola, the new Olowu of Owu. At his Ita-Eko house in the Abeokuta north LGA, Obasanjo, the Balogun of Owu, welcomed the new king with Owu natives and other kingmakers.

The next ruler started his ascent to the throne of his ancestors as an associate professor.

The ex-president prostrated in front of the Olowu nominee to greet him.

Following a courtesy visit to Adedotun Gbadebo, Alake of Egbaland, the Olowu-designate was escorted from Obasanjo’s residence to Oke-Ago Owu to begin his seclusion as part of the coronation preparations, according to a Premium Times article.

Obasanjo expresses gratitude to all those involved in the selecting process. Obasanjo expressed gratitude to the state government for confirming Metemilola’s appointment as the new Olowu and gave the king his assurances of the people’s support and a peaceful reign.

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president, has backed Saka Adelola Matemilola, the newly proclaimed Olowu of the Owu Kingdom.

During a meeting, Obasanjo declared that he would always be there for the new king. Recall that Matemilola had just been named the new Olowu, as proclaimed by the state administration.
