Olumide Agboola, a specialist in robbing online sellers in the state, was captured by Lagos Police Command agents.

The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin said the suspect’s strategy was to pretend to be a legitimate customer on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram when he made the announcement of Agboola’s arrest.

Hundeyin claimed that after placing his orders, Agboola would ask suppliers to deliver the goods to specific hotels, where he would rob the guests.

Olumide Agboola, 44, who is well known for robbing internet vendors, was detained by police officers assigned to the Makinde Division, according to the statement.

After a thorough investigation was conducted as a result of several allegations about his activities, he was apprehended.

The suspect’s unquestionable identification has been made possible by multiple CCTV footage from the suspect’s various crime scenes.

“In his most recent operation, the suspect robbed his victim of her Infinix Hot 9 phone and the various textiles, underwear, and singlets she had come to sell, all of which were worth N193,000.

“The suspect’s modus operandi was to appear as a genuine buyer on social media sites, order products, and ask suppliers to deliver the items to specific hotels, where he would subsequently rob them,” according to the preliminary investigation.

The police spokesperson continued by saying that an investigation was ongoing and that the suspect will be charged with a crime and prosecuted in court.

This would allow the Force to recover additional stolen things from Agboola’s prior activities.
