In two simultaneous operations in the state’s Kurfi Local Government Area, the Katsina State Police Command reported on Monday evening that an unspecified number of terrorists were thought to have been killed earlier in the day following a gun fight with its operatives.
The council’s Dadawa and Barkiya villages were the locations of the encounters.
The revelation was made on Monday night by the command’s spokesman, Gambo Isah.

According to him, the confrontations took place at 1.30 pm, and 74 sheep, 34 goats, and two goats that had been earlier rustled by the terrorists were saved.

According to the police spokesman, “Today (Monday) August 15, 2022) at around 1.30 p.m., a distress call was received indicating that terrorists, numbering eighty (80), on motorbikes, were simultaneously attacking Dadawa and Barkiya villages in the Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina state. The Command sent out its tactical units to the region after learning of the situation, where they fought the criminals in a bloody gunfight. In addition to recovering two (2) cows, thirty-four (34) goats, and seventy-four (74) sheep, the crew also effectively resisted the terrorists.

“It is believed that numerous terrorists were killed or fatally injured during the encounter. Police officers are continuing searching the area in an effort to apprehend the injured terrorists and/or find their dead bodies.

Isah continued by saying that Idrisu Dabban Dauda, the state commissioner of police, had expressed appreciation for the officers’ efforts in thwarting the criminals.

The Police Commissioner also exhorted the populace to keep helping security organizations in their ongoing efforts to combat terrorists and other criminals in the state.
