According to Ben Hundeyin, a spokesman for the Lagos State Police Command, musician Daniel Benson, also known as BNXN, will be punished for attacking a police officer.
The artist was seen fighting with Nigerian police officers in a video that circulated on Twitter on Wednesday.
Formerly known as Buju, BNXN confessed in since-deleted tweets that he had actually gotten into a fight with the police, which resulted in him spitting on an officer.
It felt great to spit in a police officer’s face. You entered my car after I allowed you, tore my shirt, and started slapping me? Nah, everyone needs to quit! In the now-deleted post, he wrote.
In response to the event, Hundeyin tweeted that the police officers will face punishment if discovered to have engaged in misbehavior.
He said the musician will “definitely” face the law for assaulting a police officer while sharing images of BNXN’s tweet.
‘Spat in a police officer’s face and it felt so wonderful,’ proudly tweeted @BNXN. Since then, he has removed the tweet.
On Wednesday, Hundeyin tweeted, “The police officers will be sanctioned for their misbehavior if established, while @BNXN will undoubtedly answer for his assault on a police officer.
