Tension in Ondo as soldiers allegedly attack PDP members

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has expressed concern about an alleged army attack on some of its members in the state’s Idanre Local Government Area.

The party said that Mr. Tajudeen Adefisoye, the lawmaker for the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, was responsible for planning the attack on its members and the demolition of the stores where members were conducting a meeting.

Adefisoye, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the house committee on Army, claimed that some PDP youths attacked his convoy last Saturday in the town, wounding some of his followers.

According to the PDP, the APC lawmaker attacked in retaliation for the invasion by the allegedly phony military.

The PDP’s director of media and publicity in the Idanre council area, Mr. Fasoranti Adeyemi, issued a statement in response to the invasion saying: “No amount of threats and intimidation will stop Idanre/Ifedore from voting PDP candidates in February/March 2023 and from winning.

The legislator, Mr. Adefisoye, responded to the claimed invasion by denying the claims and asserting that he did not send military to the area.

I didn’t bring soldiers to Idanre, Adefisoye declared. Festus Akingbaso, the PDP’s candidate for the House of Representatives, and his followers attacked me. “They destroyed my vehicle, and a gunshot went through the glass of my car,” he said.

Perpetrators’ll be arrested —Police

When contacted, Funmi Odunlami, a spokesperson for the Ondo Police Command, stated that the situation was being looked into.

According to Odunlami, “We hurriedly went in to establish tranquility in the neighborhood as investigations have started with a view to apprehending culprits of such a dastard crime.”

The election season is now underway. You should bring in a representative for yourself. “We will get to the bottom of it and make sure we get those responsible prosecuted. There is no excuse for killing anyone’s life.”
