The Ondo Assembly declares two legislative seats vacant.

Due to suspected anti-party conduct, the Ondo State House of Assembly recently declared the seats of two members empty.

Favour Towomewo, who represents Ilaje constituency II, and Success Torhukerhijo, who represents Ese-Odo constituency, are the legislators that are impacted.

The development came after letters from their wards were sent to Mr. Ade Adetimehin, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and then forwarded to the state Assembly.

Their seats were declared vacant by the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oleyelogun, who had the clerk of the House, Mr. Taye Benjamin, read the letter. He also ordered that a letter be sent to the Independent Electoral Commission, or INEC.

According to reports, the two parliamentarians switched parties prior to the most recent governorship race in 2020.
