Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the candidate for president of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, has reiterated his willingness to serve Nigeria.

Speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State in Abuja on Wednesday, Tinubu made this claim.

Just a few months separate me from you, he added. I’m 70, too, but Bishop, you’ll contribute to establishing not only the institution but also the greatness of a country. In honor of your 70th birthday, you are creating an institution.

We must work jointly to construct it because it rests on both of our shoulders. Because it represents something, I must and will make a large personal contribution to the construction and completion of that institution.

You’re a short man, but no matter how small you are, when you step outside, you will see the sky, he said.

“I listened to the panelists, and we look to be in confusion regarding our national anthem,” Tinubu continued. The second stanza of our national song, which begins with the words “Though tongue and tribe may differ, but in brotherhood we stand,” was something Kayode had mentioned to me.

We inherited speaking in tongues from the Bible, but our diversity is a promise for prosperity, he continued. “And he sent me the second stanza too; it’s a pledge that Nigeria, I am ready to serve.
